Hi there!

So glad to see you.

Welcome to a periodical, a newsletter, a zine, an almanac! for all space cadets–astrology nerds, gourmands, and anyone else with brains wandering outer space while their bodies remain earthbound.

Everything (except for printer ink and USPS stamps) used in the production of printed copies of the Space Cadet’s Almanac were sourced second-hand/zero-waste from the following:

The Lore

It all begins with an idea—or does it? Maybe it began with a bad day at work and a “fuck it” mood, garnished with a touch of delusion. Either way, I first thought of getting into publishing when a close friend quit his 9-5 of 20 years, wrote and illustrated a (very, very good) book, and started shopping it around the major publishing houses to get it out there.

Unsurprisingly, it wasn’t an immediate success. I was instantly annoyed that I wasn’t surprised to be disappointed for him, and I wondered why my super-talented friends should have to wait around for permission from a huge faceless publishing institution to get their (actually and truly fantastic) work out to the world.

After all, I was at a wine distributor. While I hated it, I figured that wine distribution and thought distribution were similar enough that I would at least know which way was up. And at least supply chain in print publishing doesn’t need to be refrigerated!

I figured I’d quit my job in wine when I got hired at a publishing house; I’d learn the business and use my salary to start very small and grow over the years. But mice and men, you know? A whole recession happened, companies stopped hiring and started rescinding job offers. I couldn’t wait around on the “economy” which frankly I’ve never understood anyway. So here I am, jumping into the deep end, armed with a lot of nerve and a few years of side-hustle copywriting on Upwork.

Someday I want this to be an amphitheater for many different voices telling as many different voices telling as many different stories—if you have something you’d like to share, please do reach out via email. I’d love to hear from you!

I’m dedicated to an ethos of kindness and grace, and to the ideal that justice really is how love manifests in community. I believe that justice and progress are also a deeply personal journey, and I hope that there can be grace and understanding in that we’re all still human, always working to be better, more compassionate people, but still coming short of the ideal sometimes most of the time.

As much as the societal aspect of justice is never-ending, so must the struggle to become just people be. The good fight is a lifelong uphill hike, and it’s nice to have company on the way.

Thanks for joining me! I hope you stick around. <3
